Handpan Retreat with Malte Marten

Conditions of participation

1. Event

1.1. Malte Marten GmbH, Heimatstr. 19, 79102 Freiburg ("Organizer") organizes an exclusive retreat. The subject of this contract is the implementation of a multi-day musical retreat with a focus on playing the handpan by the Organizer. The retreat serves the purpose of musical deepening, personal deceleration and mindful engagement with music in an inspiring and natural environment.

1.2. This year's retreat will take place at Schloss Elmau, a secluded and scenic location that offers ideal conditions for an intensive musical and personal experience. In addition to guided musical sessions, the retreat also includes time for free time, reflection and conscious relaxation.

1.3. The retreat will take place from December 7 - December 12, 2025 at Schloss Elmau, In Elmau 2, 82493 Krün.

1.4. The planned schedule and daily structure of the retreat is as follows:

Saturday, December 7

  • Arrival & check-in

  • 20:00: Welcome Circle and handpan concert with Malte

Sunday to Wednesday, December 8 to 11

  • 08:30 - 09:30: Breakfast

  • 10:00 - 12:30: Handpan morning session

  • 13:00: Lunch

  • 14:00 - 15:30: Free time (spa, nature, reflection)

  • 15:30 - 18:00: Handpan afternoon session

  • 19:00: Dinner

Thursday, December 12

  • 08:00 - 10:00 am: Breakfast

  • 10:30 - 12:00: Time to Pack & Departure

1.5. The schedule and daily structure are not binding and are only a rough guide. Deviations and changes are possible at any time.

2. Participation

2.1. The prerequisite for participation is registration via the form on the website https://www.maltemarten.com/live-events/handpan-retreat-2025. Sending the registration form does not constitute the conclusion of a contract, but is merely an offer to conclude a contract that must still be accepted by the organizer. The contract is only concluded with the express booking confirmation by the organizer, which the organizer sends to the participant by e-mail

2.2. Registrations will only be considered during the period specified on the above website. Registrations not received by the deadline can only be considered in exceptional cases and only if the limited number of participants has not yet been reached. Registrations will be processed in the order in which they are received.

3. Services of the organizer

The participant receives the following benefits as part of the retreat:

  • Hotel room, depending on the room option selected

  • Get together and musical accompaniment as part of the retreat

  • Breakfast until 11:00 am in the hotel's open restaurants

  • Dinner (credit of EUR 85.00/night) in one of the open restaurants

  • Access to the spa areas of Schloss Elmau (including Badehaus

  • Spa, Oriental Hamam, Shantigiri Spas)

  • Participation in the daily yoga, activity and sports program (from 16 years, registration required)

  • Admission to concerts, readings and use of the libraries

  • Filled minibar on arrival, fresh Schloss Elmau spring water in the room every day

  • High-speed WLAN

  • Use of tennis courts, skate & toboggan rental

  • Transfer from/to Klais train station

  • Shuttle to hiking and skiing areas

  • Outdoor parking space (underground garage optional for an extra charge)

4. Participation costs

4.1. The participation fee includes the costs for all sessions as well as the costs for accommodation and meals in accordance with the service description (see section 3).

4.2. The prices are per person and for the entire duration of the retreat with the following room selection:

  • Single room (standard): EUR 3,500.00

  • Single room (Deluxe): EUR 4,000.00

  • Double room (Deluxe, price per person): EUR 3,350.00

  • Panorama suite (4 persons, price per person): EUR 3,750.00

4.3. The participation fee is due for payment no later than 3 months before the start of the retreat. If registration is made at a later date, i.e. less than three months before the start of the retreat, the participation fee must be paid immediately after conclusion of the contract, but at the latest within 7 calendar days and in any case before the start of the retreat. 4.4. Participation may be refused if payment is not made on time.

5. Withdrawal by the participant / Cancellation conditions

5.1. Withdrawal from the contract must be declared in writing to the organizer. The date of receipt of the declaration of withdrawal by the organizer shall be decisive.

5.2. Cancellation free of charge is possible up to ten weeks before the start of the event at the latest. Thereafter, the following graduated cancellation fees apply:

  • up to eight weeks before the start of the event: 25 % of the participation fee

  • up to six weeks before the start of the event: 50 % of the participation fee

  • up to four weeks before the start of the event: 75% of the participation fee

  • up to two weeks before the start of the event: 90 % of the participation fee

  • in the event of late withdrawal or non-attendance: 100 % of the participation fee

5.3. The participant reserves the right to prove that the organizer has incurred no or less damage.

5.4. The organizer will endeavour to allocate any places that become free to other participants. If a suitable replacement participant is found, the originally registered participant will only incur a flat-rate processing fee of EUR 50.00.

6. Insurance

Participation is at the participant's own risk. The participation fee does not include insurance cover. The organizer recommends taking out private accident, health and liability insurance.

7. Liability

The organizer is liable for damages resulting from injury to life, body or health caused by a culpable breach of duty by the organizer, its legal representatives or vicarious agents and for other damages caused by an intentional or grossly negligent breach of duty by the organizer, its legal representatives or vicarious agents. No liability is assumed for the loss of lost items.

8. Change or cancellation of the event, compensation

The organizer is entitled to make changes to the event or cancel the event in cases of force majeure (e.g. pandemic, war, storms, etc.) or due to official orders or for safety reasons or due to an insufficient number of participants or due to illness on the part of Malte Marten. In such cases, the organizer shall not be liable to pay compensation to the participant. The organizer will inform the participant immediately of the change or cancellation of the training camp.

9. Exclusion from participation

Participants who significantly disrupt the course of the event or violate the instructions of the course management may be excluded from further participation by the organizer. In this case, there is no entitlement to a refund of the participation fee.

10. Miscellaneous

10.1. The law of the Federal Republic of Germany shall apply.

10.2. In case of doubt, the German version of this contract is decisive.
